Rights of the Palestinian nation in view of the international law (Child s Right)

Rights of the Palestinian nation in view of the international law (Child’s Right)

Dr. Naziha Saleh[1]

Abstract:

Throughout history, the world underwent wars which have led to many casualties. Because of World War I and its consequences, the countries in power sought to establish a world committee; the League of Nations, to try to find resolutions for world conflicts which later developed to become the United Nations, which adopts conventions and articles for specific situations in the world. One of the United Nations’ most prominent conventions is the Convention on the Rights of the Child, which was adopted in 1989. This convention clearly states the rights of the child in all situations, in addition to solutions given with some punishments for those who don’t abide by the convention’s articles. The state of Israel’s constant breaches of this convention is a bare example. Clearly, none of the articles in the convention regarding the safety and rights of children during times of war and conflicts were followed by the Israeli army during the War on Gaza (2008-2009). This sort of act should have been fought by all Child’s right convention auditors, and the United Nations should have taken actions regarding the Israeli war on children. Ironically, they all stood silent and not one of the convention’s articles was mentioned in any sort of trial.
