Silence towards ongoing crimes against Gazans amounts to betrayal

Sheikh Ali al-Qaradaghi said what the Palestinians in Gaza are experiencing under the continuous genocide, worsening humanitarian conditions, winter cold, and storms is clear evidence of the neglect of the Ummah toward a people simultaneously struggling with killing, siege, and hunger, Taqrib News Agency reported Al-Alam as saying.
 
He emphasized that helping the oppressed is a religious and moral duty, and silence in the face of these events is a betrayal unworthy of the Ummah and its religious and human values.
 
Al-Qaradaghi pointed out that scenes of tents being torn away, flooded by rain, and women and children left without shelter reveal the depth of the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza.
 
He added that this great calamity no longer only tests the patience of the victims but also challenges the positions of the entire world.
 
The President of the International Union of Muslim Scholars further noted that the people of Gaza are under blatant oppression and aggression, calling on nations, governments, and religious and humanitarian institutions to assume their responsibilities and make serious efforts to stop this aggression and provide relief to the victims.
 
He continued by saying that supporting the oppressed is part of religion, and silence in the face of it is betrayal saying,” Today, Gaza serves as a moral scale to measure the positions of the Ummah and the conscience of all humanity.”
Qaradaghi expressed regret that the crisis in Gaza continues as the “Zionist regime” prevents the implementation of ceasefire commitments, including the entry of 300,000 tents and prefabricated houses into the region.
 
More than two months into a US-brokered ceasefire between the regime and Hamas, Israel has repeatedly violated the agreement that aimed to end the aggression and allow entry of humanitarian aid to more than one million displaced people.
 
Israeli limitation of the aid entry together with the winter cold and the humanitarian crisis continues to claim lives among Palestinians across Gaza Strip.
 
Israel’s two-year genocide in Gaza, which began on October 7, 2023 with U.S. support, has left more than 70,000 martyrs, 171,000 wounded, and destroyed about 90% of its civilian infrastructure.
